Ron Meyers Leadership Award
Ron Meyers was a man who wore many coats.
He was a well-known provincial court judge, a freelance basketball reporter for the Winnipeg Tribune for almost 25 years and a longtime treasurer of the Manitoba Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association.
After his passing in January 2010, Basketball Manitoba, in partnership with the Manitoba Basketball Coaches Association and the MSSA, created the Ron Meyers Leadership Award to recognize his outstanding support and leadership to the game.
The scholarships are presented to a Grade 12 male and female high school basketball player in Manitoba “who best meets the standards Ron Meyers set as a leader in the community.“
